Welcome to the web site of 1968 batch of S.M.S. Medical College, Jaipur. We came together for the first time in 1968 as fresh 1st M.B.B.S. students of SMS. Established in 1947 as the first medical college in Rajasthan, SMS had become, by 1968, a premier medical institution in the country, and was making its presence felt internationally. Located in the picturesque ‘pink city’, housed in a majestic campus and adorned by an illustrious faculty, SMS was a dream institution for wannabe doctors.

We entered SMS with mixed feelings of joy, pride, curiosity and apprehension. The apprehension part lasted only three months during which we were ‘welcomed’ by our seniors and initiated into the culture and traditions of SMS. Thereafter, it was unalloyed joy and pride and, of course, curiosity about the unfolding mysteries of medical science !

Our seniors soon become our guides and our teachers our mentors. We had the privilege of being taught by some of the finest teachers in the country, who shaped us into what we are today. Our gratitude to them shall remain for ever as will our pride in our alma mater.

The 1968 batch was one of the largest batches of SMS. It was a curious medley of varying talents. Many excelled in academic pursuits, several made their mark in cultural field, some made us proud by their literary talent and a few left their imprint in the arena of sports. Above all, it was a bunch of fun-filled, boisterous and gung-ho youth.

In the years gone by, the young medical students have been transformed into responsible, respected and accomplished professionals. They are scattered all over the state, nation and globe. Many are reputed academicians, many more are popular clinicians in Govt. and private sector, and some have made a name in industry and business as well.

Youth has now given way to maturity but the spirit of the ‘SMS years’ is unchanged as was seen during our 40th reunion in 2008 and 50th reunion in 2018. The old bonds of friendship were renewed and strengthened. We hope that the camaraderie continues for ever. This web site provides a platform for interaction and contact with each other.
